“Your oral health is a window into your overall health” – American Dental
Overwhelming research has proven that the health of your mouth is directly related to the rest of your body. According to recent studies, proper care of your teeth and gums can reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and many other bacterial infections in your body.
At Dr. Smyth’s office we highly encourage preventative care and help educate all of our patients about proper cleaning techniques.
Preventative dental care is all the things you do to take care of your dental health, such as brushing and flossing regularly, eating a healthy diet, and seeing your dentist regularly. Routine dental exams and regular cleanings help prevent the chance of higher-cost treatments such as periodontal surgery, root canals, and surgical extractions.
Early detection and prevention are key to minimizing your need for more serious dental treatment in the future. Prevention is highly encouraged among all our patients, but especially for children and teens. Our
office staff is highly effective at patient education and motivation!
Dr. Smyth completes a periodic exam at your hygiene appointments where she will recommend any changes necessary in your preventative care and diagnose any dental treatment needs.
Our preventative dental services include:
- Comprehensive exams
- Oral ID cancer exams
